About Us
Mission
To provide cross-cultural experiences that unifies environmental, economic, social and artistic sustainability.
Inspiration
The inspiration for EcoArts Tours originated from Rosalyn Salters' passion as a lifelong steward in the arts and environmental conservation. The formation of the organization is rooted in the increasing need to foster, promote and integrate the many benefits and value of the arts, nature conservation in travel - whether abroad or in our home communities. The EcoArts approach allows for a more holistic model for preserving ecosystems and arts for future generations.
Founding principles
Where responsible travel and world arts education come together. As the form of responsible travel used, sustainable tourism provides EcoArts Tours a way to support natural and cultural conservation efforts while at the same time eradicating poverty (the arts also provide a means of economic empowerment, through revenue generated from visitors traveling to the destinations). As the other principle, world arts education provides new ways to bridge cultural gaps and increase the support for the arts around the world. The union of both of the founding principles creates a complete, holistic model of connecting the arts, nature and responsible travel around the world.
Artist Statement ~
Aesthetics is not art, neither is style. The goal is to create resounding truths that have an effect. Does a poet speak, or singer sing, merely to hear the sound of their voice? Does the painter, dancer, only want you to admire their skill? No. The point is to stir the ether and cause some effective change.
The Zuni rain dance wasn’t created for the look and feel of it. The point of it was to create a vibration that would alter the existing atmospheric vibration and cause it to rain. The Bhagavad Gita was written, not solely to admire the beautiful prose, but for the alchemizing truths inherent in that great scripture to help us solve the enigma of our own lives. Architectural art such as pyramids, igloos, and teepees exemplify truths in the three worlds of matter, energy and ideas.
See beyond where the world is now. Keep your goal always in sight. Don’t pay too much attention to the roar of the crowd. Your internal world has to be louder and more vivid, more real, than the external world..
