The Dance of the Bhuchens

Bhuchens dancer, credit by Ecosphere Although a part of Spiti Valley, the Pin Valley is quite distinct both in terms of culture and topography. The Pin Valley is home to the Bhuchens, a unique and rare sect of Tibetan Buddhist theatrical artists that preach religious, social and ecological morals to the locals through a set of diverse performances.

After disappearing from Tibet and Ladakh, the dance of the Bhuchens can now only be found in Spiti Valley. EcoArts Tours’ partner, Ecosphere, is working with the Bhuchens to ensure this art form is preserved.
